Matt Jones didn’t do much in his NFL debut last weekend, but he grabbed the league’s attention this past Sunday.
The former Florida running back rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in Washington’s 24-10 win over St. Louis.
Jones also caught three passes for 23 yards — five yards less than what he rushed for in the season opener, a 17-10 loss to Miami.
“The first game, the first half we just out-powered (the Dolphins),” Jones told the Washington Post. “We know we’ve got a great team up front. Knowing we couldn’t close the game when we were up 10-0 last week, and we were up 10-0 in this game coming in going into the half, we had great energy knowing that we were going to go back out there and finish this game.”
