Gators in the NFL Week 10

by Ryan Randall

With seven weeks left in the NFL season, many teams are dealing with injuries, whether it’s a player bouncing back from one, or a backup captializing on an opportunity. Prior to Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay, Channing Crowder had missed two consecutive games with a shoulder injury. The Miami Dolphins lineback had a solid outing in his return, making nine tackles and one sack, in a 25-23 win.

San Diego’s Brandon Siler has has made the most of his new starting role, accumulating 11 tackles and one sack in the Chargers’ last two games. Filling in for Tim Dobbins, who has missed the last two games with a knee injury, Siler has impressed defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, who said Friday, “Brandon has a tremendous passion for the game and what we’re doing…. he plays like a seasoned veteran.” Although Dobbins is slated to return this Sunday at Denver, it will be interesting to see how much, if any, playing time Siler gets.

Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner Percy Harvin had three catches for 50 yards, as well as a seven-yard rush in a 27-10 victory over Detroit. Currently, Harvin is the third reciever on the Vikings depth chart, however with Bernard Berrian dealing with injuries, one has to wonder if the first-round pick will move up the depth chart by season’s end.

Here are the Gators in the NFL statistics updated through Week 10.
