Leak’s passing academy

by admin

Times are tough for all of us.

Money is tight, and what little disposable income we have doesn’t seem to go as far as it once did.

Recently, I took my wife and daughter to the movies. After tickets, snacks and dinner afterwards, I was out nearly $100.

So imagine my disappointment when I found out that same $100 could have bought me an hour of personal coaching from Chris Leak.

Leak, who signed with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes in December, just held his first passing academy for youngsters in Apopka. Among the attending coaches were Leak and fellow Gator alum Jemalle Cornelius, Dallas Baker, Jabar Gaffney, Chad Jackson, Ran Carthon, Ciatrick Fason, Kestahn Moore, Keiwan Ratliff, Reggie Nelson and Earl Everett.

But if you missed your chance to attend the camp, you’re not totally out of luck.

On the academy’s Web site, http://www.ChrisLeakFootballAcademy.com, it lists an option of private lessons starting at $100 an hour. While it doesn’t list Leak as the actual tutor, one would expect that he’d have a part in an academy that boasts his name.

That’s actually a pretty decent deal considering what private coaches typically cost, and learning from a guy that recently won a BCS Championship Game MVP isn’t too shabby.

Of course, someone like me would have to make it rain cash on Leak to see a noticeable difference in my game, but if you have a child who shows promise and has an arm that can get the ball downfield, it’s not a bad deal.

It’s got to be better than a night out watching “Race to Witch Mountain.”
