Wilkerson in Providence

by admin

Former Gator Brad Wilkerson’s search for other options led him right back to where he started.

Wilkerson (’96-’98) left the Boston Red Sox late in spring training to consider other options in his career. The outfielder logged five hits and 18 strikeouts in 42 appearances at the plate this spring as he competed with eventual-winner Chris Carter for the final roster spot.

Boston’s AAA affiliate, the Pawtucket Red Sox, or PasSox, lists Wilkerson on its roster, and he is expected to be in uniform when the team tosses first pitch of the new season, Friday at 3:05 p.m.

According to the Boston Globe, the move to stick around was expected from Wilkerson, but the organization had made no comment on the situation until the PawSox’ roster was released.
