Eagles give Ingram $1.9M birthday present

by admin

Call the caterer, we may need to upgrade Cornelius Ingram’s birthday party plans.

After strong showings throughout Philadelphia’s offseason training activities, the Eagles rewarded their fifth-round pick with a four-year contract Wednesday, the same day Ingram turns 24 years old.

The contract lays to rest some of the rumors reported before the draft about Ingram’s healing knee.

As the former Gator continued to tumble down the draft boards, going from a possible second-round pick to the Eagles fifth-round choice, reports said that some teams flagged his pre-draft physicals by saying that the torn ACL that forced him to miss his senior year at UF was not fully healed. Some speculated that he could have needed a second surgery and could miss his rookie season.

Ingram did away with the doubts, performing well the weekend after the draft at an Eagles’ mini-camp for rookies.

Ingram’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the signing with a posting on his Twitter.com account early Wednesday.

The deal, reportedly worth a little more than $1.9 million with a $183,000 signing bonus, puts Ingram in a position where he will be signed and ready for training camp, where he’s expected to compete for the Eagles’ No. 2 tight end spot.

I’m happy for C.I. He is what what Florida Gator football is all about and he will factor in the Eagles offense very promanetely.
